Sleeping pills and aids are talked about quite a bit when it comes to helping people who suffer from sleeping problems and in some cases depression as well. Some people swear that these pills work wonders and help them get the sleep they need while others think that they are very bad for your health. In most cases, you should only be taking sleeping aids if for some reason your body cannot sleep on its own. You should not be taking sleeping aids just because you do not practice healthy sleeping habits. If you are tired but can’t sleep at night you should consider reading some sleeping tips before you go to sleeping pills or aids.
What Is Remeron Medication?
For starters, Remeron is a Tetracyclic antidepressant that is also commonly known as Mirtazapine. It is usually used by people who have problems dealing with depression and emotional issues. Depression commonly occurs because the chemicals in the brain are unbalanced and create the feelings of sadness or depression at an increased rate. Remeron, like most antidepressants is believed to help fix this chemical problem in the brain.
Remeron is a very strong drug that is usually used for people dealing with major depression. It is common for people to experience a drop in mood when first taking the drug until the body gets used to it. Be very careful when taking these kinds of drugs for these purposes as they can really change your mood and how you react as a person.
Remeron Sleep Apnea
Although Remeron is commonly used to treat depression, it is starting to be used to help treat sleep apnea as well. Although this may be true it is not confirmed and neither is approved for this kind of treatment.
Although there is not a lot of information on this type of treatment there have been studies done that have shown that Remeron does decrease sleep apnea in rats and humans as well. From these positive studies maybe we can expect to see it researched more in the future as well.
I would recommend that you do not use Remeron for this purpose, at least not on your own. Talk to a doctor if you are curious and get an expert’s opinion before you try something that has not been researched very often.
Remeron Sleeping Pills
Remeron sleeping pills can be found, but I had a difficult time finding information about them. It seems that using Remeron and sleep together have not really been researched that much. This is why I would advise caution if you are thinking of doing so.

From what I have seen and read it seems that the average Remeron dosage for sleep that most patients take is somewhere between 15mg a day. If you take more there are reports of feeling drowsy the next day as this drug has very high sedating effects.
I have also read that many people who take Remeron as a sleeping aid have trouble sleeping during nights they do not take it. This is likely the result of a Remeron sleep disorder forming. If you take any kind of sleeping pills you need to understand that the body can sometimes start to rely on them and you will become addicted. If you do not get your daily dosage your body can go through withdraws which are very painful especially when it comes to losing sleep.
Remeron Side Effects
Before I go into the side effects that everyone who is taking or even thinking about taking this drug should know, you must be aware that not all side effects have been found and your body may react differently them someone else’s.
- A very common side effects associated with Remeron is drowsiness, headaches and overall feelings of tiredness and weakness. This is very common as some people may need more or less dosage of the drug.
- Weight gain also seems to be very common as well as an increased appetite for food.
- Abnormal dreams and thoughts are common from those who are on the drug.
- It is also reported that flu and cold like symptoms may occur.
- Allergic reactions can also happen, and you should get help immediately if you are experiencing anything similar.
Should You Use Remeron As a Sleep Aid?
Personally I would advise that you stay away from this drug as sleep aiding is not what it was prescribed to do. Wait until research is done or at least get a professionals opinion before you try this drug for sleeping restoration.
